The day that we decided
to drink a coffee reminded me of England. Cloudy, minor raindrops that piss you
off (make you wonder whether to take an umbrella or not and as always we didn’t),
people that have no defined mood walking around with just a plain ‘’I want to
go home’’ in their eyes. We were happy though, snow hadn’t reached the city as
in other cities up in the north and we considered the whole thing as being a
fare exchange (no snow for a kind of…rain).
We went to the Kiprou
square in Kallithea to sit at one of the several café there and maybe take a
glimpse at the stores on Sivitanidiou St. Our pick was Estate café on
Laskaridou St. (110 to be precise). We hadn’t been there for a while so it was
a good choice to rest our bones, drink a good coffee and chat about ordinary
things on an ordinary day.
The place is cozy,
nicely decorated purple being the dominant color and sofas that you can just
melt on them and stare outside the window or read magazines available there.
You can also sit outside but we run out of bravery that day so the most
masculine thing we did was to take a cold freddo cappuccino instead of a hot
nes, chocolate or whatever. It is 4.10 euro but you get a croissant along with that. Another positive thing about Estate was the waitress.
She wasn’t like a robot-calculator-machine we have seen in other places. Very
social and helpful (hey…don’t think I’m saying something else than I actually
am).
